who we are

blurstate is a creative studio based in New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect through blurstate.com, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

what we collect

We collect the details you send through our forms: your name, email address, company or organisation, and whatever you tell us about your project. If you join the newsletter, we collect your email address. If you accept analytics cookies, we also collect anonymous usage data about how the site is browsed, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device, and browser.

how we use it

We use form details to reply to your enquiry, plan and quote projects, and run the Blurstate Groundwork programme. We use your email address to send the occasional blurstate email if you joined the list, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe. We use usage data to understand which pages are useful and to improve the site. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

analytics and cookies

The site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and measure how pages are used. Google processes this data on our behalf. Analytics cookies are off by default: on your first visit we ask whether you are happy for us to use them, and if you decline, no analytics scripts or cookies are loaded. Your choice is remembered in your browser and you can change it at any time.

who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the site: Vercel hosts it, Resend delivers form submissions and newsletter emails, and Google provides analytics. These providers may store data outside New Zealand. We only share what each one needs to do its job.

how long we keep it

We keep enquiry emails for as long as they are useful for the project or the conversation, and newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe.

your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@blurstate.com and we will respond within 20 working days. If you are not happy with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
